haul to dump

Have you ever taken trash to the dump before? It involves collecting garbage from homes and businesses and taking it to a designated place known as the dump. Where I will begin: the dump, the place where we send all our refuse to be sorted, recycled or buried.

The act of carrying trash to the dump begins with a huge vehicle known as the garbage truck. There are lots of different types of garbage trucks, but they all do one thing: pick up trash! The garbage truck makes its way through the neighborhood and stops at each house to collect the trash.

Hauling to the Dump

The garbage collectors get out each time the truck stops at a home to scoop the trash cans and dump them in the back of the truck. They are careful to segregate recyclables, such as plastic bottles and paper, from regular trash. When the truck is full, it heads to the dump.

At the dump, the garbage truck pulls up to a large mound of garbage and empties its contents on top. Then the trash gets pushed around by special machines, using immense brooms known as bulldozers, which sort the trash into various piles. Some will be recycled, some will be buried and some will be burned.
