Deep shaft mining is inherently the most challenging type of work in the industry. High temperatures, lack of visibility, confined spaces, and constant threats of ground instability demand more than just basic machinery. For over 30 years, Tuoxing Heavy Machinery has been engineering underground trackless mining equipment focused on safety and reliability in extreme environments, including the TX-series, specifically designed to handle deep shaft risks and still maintain productivity.
Advanced Structural Integrity and Certified Protection
Perhaps the greatest safety benefit of modern underground mining equipment is its reinforced construction. In deep shaft mining, the machines can be subjected to intense pressure from the surrounding ground and possible rock fall events. Tuoxing's TX-series of LHDs, trucks and scalers come equipped with robust frames and certified safety canopies. Our machinery bears the mine safety (KA) certification mark which indicates that it has met the necessary specifications for use in underground coal and metal mines. Every machine meets strict national standards of flame resistance, structural integrity, and emergency response in underground mining conditions. Operators can count on the machinery operating around them for an additional layer of safety from falls of ground and debris.
Ergonomics and Visibility for Reduced Human Error
Human error is a major factor in underground mining incidents and it becomes an even greater risk in deep shaft operations where poor visibility is intensified. This problem is addressed in modern trackless mining machines with well-designed operator cabs and lines of sight. Tuoxing's underground LHDs and service vehicles are equipped with roomy operator cabs positioned to offer a clear view with easy-to-use controls and lights. Operators can clearly see the boom, their travel path, tunnel walls and other machinery around them to avoid accidents. Reducing operator strain through ergonomics and offering maximum visibility significantly improves the decision making of the operator in high pressure situations.
Emission Control and Ventilation Compatibility
Proper ventilation in a deep shaft is notoriously difficult and it often can be hampered further by emission products from diesel equipment. Tuoxing's diesel scooptrams feature advanced emission controls, combining low emission engines and post-treatment technologies to help maintain safe levels of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides and particulates in the working environment. For any shaft that requires it, the electric scooptram option will not generate any heat from its operations nor any exhaust gases, completely negating potential ventilation problems. Maintaining quality air will have a direct impact on respiratory health of the operators, while also significantly lowering the risk of dangerous gas buildup.
Ground Stability Support with Precision Tools
Ground control is an absolutely vital component of safe deep shaft mining operations, as cave-ins and rock bursts can kill workers instantly. Traditionally, this work has been accomplished manually and at high risk. The underground scalers and scaling trolleys from Tuoxing allow operators to safely remove loose ground from a protected environment. With the ability to position the machinery and operate its hydraulic tools remotely, the worker no longer has to be positioned under potentially unstable ground, reducing the risk of falling rocks considerably. Support equipment for underground mines is also integrated with the other machinery to ensure efficient ground support cycle continuity.
Reliable Braking and Tramming Control on Steep Grades
Deep shaft operations typically involve working down slopes, requiring machines with incredibly reliable braking capabilities in the event of any type of system failure. The brakes in modern LHDs and underground trucks are often redundant, using spring applied hydraulic release systems and automatic retarders. Tuoxing's trucks are constructed to offer excellent braking control even on slippery and irregular ground. They also feature advanced tramming systems that prevent sudden acceleration or movement, reducing the potential for uncontrolled tramming incidents a historically dangerous issue in deep mining.
Toward Unmanned and Smarter Operations
Tuoxing Heavy Machinery is looking towards the future of safety in underground mining. We are actively developing the next generation of our underground trackless mining equipment with the use of 5G remote control, autonomous operation, and further integration of new technologies into the machinery. In the not too distant future, mining underground at great depths will involve unmanned LHDs and trucks removed entirely from dangerous areas of a mine site. We are working on this today and currently are offering an array of TX-series equipment built with performance, safety, and reliability.
